Voices in My Body – Virginia Satir’s Evolving Legacy, September 14, 2024

Voices in My Body

Virginia Satir’s Evolving Legacy

Join us on Saturday, September 14th for a special full-day event celebrating and exploring application of the work of renowned psychologist, Virginia Satir.

We will be officially launching and celebrating the release of the book, Virginia Satir’s Evolving Legacy: Transformative Therapy with a Body Mind Connection, written in collaboration by seven authors. Three of the authors will be present and facilitating the workshop: Dr. Carolyn Nesbitt, Julie Gerhardt, and Leona Gallant.

In the Workshop, participants will explore the concept of psychological parts, drawing on the work of Virginia Satir. Participants engage with Satir’s methods, which focus on the different “parts” of the self — each representing various emotions, needs, and behaviors — and how these parts interact within us.

Following the Workshop, a performance by the Murmur Arts Collective will bring Satir’s concepts to life through a blend of visual art, movement, and an immersive experience both in English and French, through “silent disco” headset technology.  The piece vividly portrays the internal dialogue of these psychological parts, creating a powerful and memorable experience.

The day’s activities will conclude with a group discussion, where attendees reflect on their insights, deepening their understanding of the concepts and practices, and fostering a sense of community.
